Breathe is provided by Seawatts LLC. This policy covers the Breathe iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch apps, this website, and the browser breathing experience.

The native apps

Breathe works without an account and its breathing features work offline. Usage analytics is optional, with a separate choice on each device in Settings → General → Usage analytics (called App settings in earlier versions). Updated apps keep collection off until you enable it on that page. Earlier builds, including 1.1.0 (42), enabled analytics automatically; you can turn it off using the same setting. There are no ads, session recordings, or third-party crash reports.

Usage analytics and your choice

We use PostHog in the United States to understand which features are useful. Events include app opens, onboarding progress, opening settings, categories of settings changed, starting or finishing a timed moment, and opening the rating or feedback action. Native events include the app version, platform, event time, and a random identifier unique to that installation. This is pseudonymous usage data: it is not associated with your name or email, and we do not link your phone, Watch, and browser.

Analytics never includes photos, file names, crop coordinates, breathing timings, heart-rate readings, Mindful Minutes, Health permissions, reminder schedules, motion samples, or the contents of support messages. We do not create identified PostHog profiles, record screens, fingerprint devices, use advertising identifiers, or use this information for ads. Requests necessarily reach PostHog with a network address; event payloads disable IP-based location enrichment and do not retain that address as an event property. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Turning analytics off stops new events, cancels pending delivery, and clears unsent events on that device. It does not remove events already delivered. Native apps keep at most 100 queued events when offline, discard events older than seven days before delivery, and exclude this queue from device backups. Analytics choices are separate from breathing-settings imports and resets. To ask about information already received, contact us using the address below.

Events already received may remain in our analytics project for product analysis until we delete them or close the project. We do not currently apply a fixed automatic deletion period to delivered usage events. You can request deletion by emailing us. Because we do not attach your name or email to these events, we may be unable to identify events from an installation that has been deleted or reset.

Your preferences and onboarding choices are saved on your device. The included landscape images are bundled with the app. On iPhone and iPad, you can also choose a personal photo for the ball or background through the system Photos or Files picker. Breathe receives only the image you select, without broad photo-library access. It saves a resized copy with source metadata, including location, removed. The copy stays on your device and is never uploaded to us. The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.

In versions with paired-Watch settings sync, Breathe shares supported breathing preferences from your iPhone to its paired Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework. This includes rhythm, scenery, display options, sounds, and cue choices. The latest update waits until the devices can connect. Personal photos, Health data, permissions, reminder schedules, and analytics preferences are not part of this transfer. These settings are not sent to us.

Optional Apple Health, reminders, and guidance

If you enable Sync with Apple Health and grant permission, Breathe adds Mindful Minutes while the app is in the foreground, while it is open on Apple Watch (including wrist-down guidance), or while a Lock Screen moment is running. No timer is needed for foreground use. Lock Screen time is limited to the moment’s scheduled end, and syncing may finish when you next open Breathe. This option does not read your health data. A protected local queue retains recorded time until Health accepts it. Updated apps exclude this queue from device backups; earlier builds may include it in backups managed by your device settings. Turning sync off clears pending writes and stops recording. Previously saved entries remain in Apple Health, where you can review or delete them and manage app permissions.

If you enable heart-rate readings in the Watch app, Breathe requests permission to read Heart Rate from Apple Health when you start a timed moment. It displays recent readings from that Watch as they become available, without starting a workout or continuous sensor measurement. Reading stops when the moment ends or you leave the app. Breathe keeps the displayed reading only in memory; it does not export it, send it to us, or retain a heart-rate history. Apple’s original Health records remain under your control in Health.

Apple manages any sharing or synchronization of Health data under your Apple settings. Breathe does not send this data to us or use it for advertising. Health permissions and recording remain separate on each device.

Daily reminders are scheduled locally with your permission. Lock Screen Live Activities show your selected breathing rhythm and remaining time. These features do not use a push server. Optional voice guidance uses audio recordings included in the app. Newer versions use an AI voice generated during development; earlier versions use Apple’s on-device speech synthesis. Neither records you, requests microphone access, or sends your data to an AI service.

Backups and your choices

Settings changes save automatically; reset takes effect after you confirm it. Removing a photo deletes the app’s copy without changing your original. You can export a settings file or import one using the system Files picker. An export goes only to the destination you choose; an iCloud or other cloud destination is handled by that provider. Breathe does not operate a synchronization service. Settings exports include your saved ball and background photos and their crops, if present. They do not include Health permission, reminders, or mindful moments.

Normal iOS device backups may include app data, depending on your Apple settings. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but does not delete copies you exported or device backups. You control those copies through the relevant system or provider. Apple may separately process App Store, TestFlight, or diagnostic information under its own privacy policy and your device settings.

The website and browser experience

The website is hosted by Vercel. Hosting and security infrastructure processes ordinary request information, such as your IP address, browser information, requested page, and request time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice for its practices.

Website analytics stays off until you enable it on the Usage analytics page. If enabled, it records page paths, links to the browser app or App Store, support-link clicks, and use of browser settings. It does not send URL query strings, fragments, referrers, entered text, or images. The browser uses a temporary random identifier held in page memory, without analytics cookies or a persistent tracking identifier. The Usage analytics page linked from the footer and browser settings controls collection; its preference is saved in local storage. We also honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Unsent browser events stay in page memory only.

The browser breathing experience saves preferences in your browser’s local storage. If you choose an image in that browser experience, it stays in local browser storage unless you explicitly export it. It is not uploaded to us. Clearing this website’s browser storage removes those saved preferences and images.
